DACA Assistance

UC Immigrant Legal Services provides free DACA renewal assistance to UC students and their immediate family members. You should assess whether it makes sense for you to apply as soon as possible. There is no application deadline, but the U.S. government publicized that it will appeal the DACA court decision. The renewal program may be available indefinitely or it could be terminated, depending on how the case proceeds in the courts.

To schedule an appointment with UC Immigrant Legal Service Center, contact usp@ucr.edu via your UCR email. Learn more about immigration legal services.

Additional Resources

DACA does not impact an undergraduate student’s eligibility for state/institutional financial aid.

Undocumented students who meet the AB 540 requirements are eligible for state and institutional aid through the CA DREAM Act. CA DREAM Act allows undocumented students who are eligible for AB540 to receive aid such as Cal Grants, the DREAM Loan, and UCR grants and scholarships.

To summarize, eligibility to state and institutional financial aid is not based off a student’s DACA status.
